CAMPAIGNS

2024 – Present: FOTJ is leading a City-wide coalition to ensure safeguards for LAMC 41.18 remain in place to prohibit homeless from residing next to schools and parks. Our kids have had numerous dangerous encounters with homeless. Homeless encampments next to these locations will lead to an increase in crime and endanger the safety of our children and surrounding community.  FOTJ garnered over 11,000 petition supporters.

2021 – 2022:  FOTJ led a coalition to prevent the City from building a homeless shelter across the street from Visitation Elementary School. Our kids have had numerous dangerous encounters with homeless. A homeless shelter next to our schools will lead to an increase in crime and endanger the safety of our children and surrounding community. This effort included meetings and correspondence with City (Council Member, Airport, Controller), State (FAA, Senator), US Representative and media. FOTJ garnered over 700 petition supporters.

2020 – 2022: FOTJ led a City-wide coalition to prevent homeless shelters in our public spaces (Westchester Park and Dockweiler Beach). We promoted more appropriate locations for homeless shelters and vehicle dwellers. These locations were more suitable than the City’s direction to use public spaces for homeless interventions. This effort included many meetings and correspondence with City (15 Council Members, Airport), State (FAA, Senator) and media. FOTJ garnered over 3500 petition supporters.
